Summertime Travels

Summer time is upon us and that meas a bit of traveling for me and some of the members of the congregation. My boys are now in Singapore, spending the summer with their aunt that lives there. I have already been to camp with 400 teens, 64 from our congregation! I taught 43 tenth graders in Bible Class. Next up is a trip to Dominica, for a mission campaign. We will spend two weeks in the village of Salisbury, on the Caribbean side of the island. It is a new place for our group and it should be exciting.

Overnight Going and Coming

Two of my colleagues and I are having to make a trip to Dominica in a couple of weeks. We had hoped that the fall schedule would allow us to make the trip all the way to the island in one day and home again in one day. But there is limited flights to Dominica and we are going to have to overnight on the way down and on the way back. That makes a Friday to Tuesday trip extend to Thursday through Wednesday. Yuck!

Roseau KFC Has A Drive Through!

When i first started going to Dominica, in the West Indies, twenty five or so years ago, there were few modern conveniences. Few people had washing machines, there were hardly any televisions, almost no individually owend cars, no fast food restaurants.

Much has changed. Msot folks have televisions, computers are everywhere, and the Japanese are selling used vehicles at cheap enough prices that many cars now are clogging the streets of the capital city, Roseau. Kentucky Fried Chicken has opened a new store and it has a drive thru window! I laughed out loud when I saw it!
